Ok, so whilst my new cable connection is great, its only great when its wired or I'm right beside the Superhub.

I got a cheap DIR-615 off eBay and flashed it with DD-WRT, but even when I setup the Superhub in Modem Mode, and configure the DIR-615 for wireless, the signal is still rubbish. I guess it must be due to my new flat, the walls just aren't letting anything through.

Anyway, I was wondering if its possible to set it up so that the Superhub produces a wireless signal, but also the DIR-615? The Superhub will be in the living room for the 360 and laptops when we are in there, and the DIR-615 will be in my room in the middle of the flat, so that I and my housemate can get wireless on the laptops and phones in our rooms.

Can you set it up so that both routers give a wireless signal, i.e. as a repeater or wireless bridge (is there a difference?)?

I'm rubbish at setting these things up, so if anyone could give a step-by-step guide, that would be brilliant.

Thank you sir! Think thats it sorted.

One thing, the speed seems to be less, I had read that wireless access points can reduce throughput, just wondering if thats normal?

Also, obviously im not clued up on how this all works, but does it dynamically shift between the routers (Superhub and 615) based on strength? Both SSID's are the same name, so I can't check which I'm connected too.

The 'globe' on the DIR-615 is also orange instead of green, again is that normal?

Enter the following in the Administration tab > Commands tab > Startup Box (without quotes)

"sleep 15 ; gpio disable 9; gpio enable 8; gpio disable 12; gpio enable 14 ; gpio disable 11 ; gpio enable 13 ; gpio disable 11 ; gpio enable 11"

The press save startup at the bottom, the orange light will turn green again :)

Hmm, can't seem to access the DIR-615, tried all the usual addresses, 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2.

Tried disconnecting the internet port and connecting just to LAN1 from the router to the computer, but it still doesn't work.

If you set it up as a wireless repeater then the speed can be effectively reduced by half. For example if the original speed from the DLink is 6MB/s then it is using 3MB/s getting data from the VM Modem and 3MB/s sending it out to you. That may be the reason for lower speeds from the DLink.

I'm no expert on this, it is just from my personal experience using flashed 615's in repeater mode and some (maybe skewed) logic.

Speed tested it again on wireless and it seems to have sorted itself. Maybe it just didn't lock on to the closest WAP or something.

Dunno why I can't get into the DIR-615 settings though. Afraid to reset it and lose all the settings, well I guess it wouldn't be too hard to do it again, but it seems to be performing decently atm anyway.
