I was thinking about trying direct die cooling my 4770k, i currently have a custom water loop, has anyone done this or can offer and advice guidance on this?
I have done it and it's a complete and utter waste of time. The EK Naked Ivy kit does the job ok but one slip and you can easily trash the pins in the socket. Reviews show that it only make 1-3 degrees difference and on mine I think the temps are actually worse now. Not sure if this is because the core is offset to one side and no longer under the jet plate of my block. Anyway, I will be sticking the IHS back on (liquid Pro between the die and IHS) when I can be bothered to take it all apart again.
