Direct throughput of sound using ports?

I have a single set of speakers and I have my MBP is directly plugged to them.

Now I need the sound from the PC to go into the mac and out again.

Im currently doing it the other way, and its degrading the sound IIRC (although it might be me just thinking it!)

I can't make it output it tho

Is it actually possible? If so how

LineIn is a simple application for OS X to enable the soft playthru of audio from input devices. In simpler terms, you can use LineIn to play sound coming in through a microphone or any other device plugged in to your Sound In port, just as was once available with OS 9's "Play input through output device" option.
