Direct X 11.1 Features

It means we'll all be sold cards that support it, rush out to buy them like good little sheep, but no games will use it for another 24-36 months, by which point we'll all have upgraded again.

YES I'M CYNICAL, PROBLEM? :D

All too true i am afraid :)

Of course it does, but I was hoping for a technical discussion of what this new technology allows, as opposed to what will happen in reality :p

But Ati did jump on the Dx10.1 cards and i fell for it as well ~ so lesson learned lol

fell for what exactly, the 4870 was no better than the best AMD DX10 card? No, of course not, it was twice the speed of AMD's previous DX10 gpu, whats the issue? Hell, dx10.1 even improved performance some 15-20% in stuff like Assasins Creed till Nvidia had the dx10.1 patch removed.

You buy a GPU, the first dx11.1 cards if they happen to be HD7000 or HD8000 cards maybe, will be almost twice the speed of the previous cards they replace.

Anyway, people make such a freaking deal over what DX version something is and what it will mean, DX is generally speaking writen to HELP dev's do things they could already do, but do them more efficiently.

The look of a game is 100% governed by the people designing and building the game, not which DX version it uses, Crysis 2 is pretty much the standard bearer here, DX 11 patch brought with it to a large degree mostly just higher res textures, that has smeg all actually to do with DX11, even the biggest DX11 feature was only added in an almost completely unseen, performance killing and pretty much solely to sabotage AMD performance.

Their are ugly dx11 games, and fantastic looking dx11 games, and dx9/10 games that look better than dx11 games, etc, etc.

Deus ex uses DX11, it uses tesselation effectively, however the low res textures which suit the consoles, let the graphical quality down massively, and again this is nothing to do with the DX version.
