Direct x 9 vista

I am not sure, so I thought I should ask.

Do I need to excplicitly install Direct X 9 (april) on vista?

if so, you think is better to install DX9 first and then ATI driver?

Are you getting some kind of error that requires you to install it?

I was running cats 7.3 and had all sorts of problems with cnc3. Looked in the event log and found some d3d9 dll involved in the disaster which suggests DX 9.

Now 7.4 cats are out and I ll go for a fresh installation.

i always keep dx9 on vista upto date. using the april package working fine here.
