Direct X problems - help!

When I try to start Fallout 3 and Football Manager 2009 I get the following error:

This application has failed to start because d3dx9_37.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

So I tried to reinstall DirectX and I get an error and it won't install. The error log says as follows:

Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this so I can play these great games?

Have you run a dxdiag from the Start>Run?

Have you run the dxsetup.exe in the FM folder? If you can't find it search for DXSETUP.exe or if you can find it, it should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\football manager 2009\directx.

It is Program Files (x86) you want as you are running Vista x64 HP (Like me. :).

If that doesn't work then download and install this.

And since you refer to FM09 as a great game, have you patched it yet? Unrelated to your DirectX issue btw. :)
