I have 9.0c on my machine, so why does every game want to re-write this with 9.0c?

I don't get it, why would everygame over write DX when its already up to date? Previously I remember older versions popping saying that it was already installed and not required.

Just done it the BF2 demo for example.... :mad:

Its because Microsoft release updates for dx9.0c on a regular basis so the newer games require the updates to be installed.

you can normally tell if it has actually updated some of the files as you pc will be asked to reboot

yes but what I am saying is, 9.0C shouldn't be replaced with 9.0c. I can guarantee my version is newer than those on disc.

So, yesteryear with 7/8 etc it would stop any other pointless installation of DX.

Can anyone tell me the latest build of DX9.0c?

If a game asks me if i want to install DX9.0c, but ive already got it on, i just click 'no', game still works.

I've had a game asking me if I want to install DX5 to run!... I've got the latest DX9c... when I said no, It told me that it couldn't garantee the game would work as it couldn't detect DX running on my machine!... :rolleyes:
