hi, as some of you might of seen in my 75% off GTA IV thread, i have had nothing but problems with Direct2Drive. i firstly couldnt complete my order as i failed the phone authorization, according to the ticket support because i was not in a geograpical location where the game is available. now bear in mind i live in england and i was purchasing from the uk webiste.
well this was finally resolved by them manually overiding it.
so i left it downloading overnight in the hope that i could play today. wrong. i install both games, only to be presented with screens asking for a serial key. so i clicked on the 'send info' buttons for the games from my account, but alas, no emails with my serial keys. so another ticket opened. i get a replay which quotes the FAQs about logging in and clicking the 'send info' button. and thats it. no reply for the last hour.

am i just really unlucky or is this a bad company?

Unlucky mate, you check your spam mail?

yeh, nothing there :( turned into a right pain. and their customer services is based in america it seems, so have to wait for them to wake up (if they even work weekends) before i can even get an answer.

well i finally got access to my keys earlier this morning, and was recently emailed with another 'how to' from them telling me to do exactly what i had tried, i even tried going to the download page as instructed but kept getting a 'invalid page' error. which for a short time stopped and let me get my serial keys, before once again returning to a 'invalid page' error.
overall not that happy, but atleast i now have these games, and from the bits i played its pretty awesome.

well spoke to someone via the ticket service this morning, and it appears the serial key was firstly a glitch with the fact they had manually authorised my account, which is fair enough and the no email when requested is actually hotmail as it works when i changed to my sky email. so overall, very happy when they finally got back to me to resolve this. it would not put me off buying in the future, but i do wonder why there is no EU based customer services.

Well at least there customer services seems ok and got it sorted. I have nothing but trouble with steam in the past and there customer services.

That put me of buying games online for life. I know pain in rear having to order games and I have to wait longer but at least when I have the box in my hands I know low chance of problems.

im just too lazy to keep getting up and changing cd/dvds :p

that said, i do worry that if any of the places i purchased digitally from went bust, i could loose everything, although from what i can gather from the files downloaded for GTA 4 direct2drive downloads are identical to the game dvd, so save to another location and you can install whenever you want :) not sure how easy steam is for backups as i have never had an issue and looked.
