Just wondering how popular these compare to one another.

Just downloading my first Direct2Download game and I like the game manager and the fact it's tied in with Fileplanet, so you can automatically download mods if you want etc.

It seems to have all the options of Steam but has little improvements like telling you how long you have to wait for a game to download(roughly, but pretty accurate).

If you've tried both, why do you use one over the other or do you use both?

btw there's 20% off everything at Direct2Drive atm.

I don't get involved in the steam community.

You don't play any mulitplayer games? It is a great social hub for gamers and I use it to keep in touch with loads of gamer mates. You can see who is playing what game and for some games, it is just one click to join them on whatever server they are playing on. :)

Most of my games are single player games, in fact I can't think of a PC game I play online :)

The online games I play tend to be sports games like Pro Evolution Soccer, Boxing, Golf etc. and I find the Xbox live setup better for those games.

I am installing Test Drive 2 at the moment though, so maybe it might of been wise to buy that of Steam, if it would be advantageous some how.

£10 cheaper on D2D though, that's what got me looking into it actually.

I haven't delved into the D2D community but it is linked to fileplanet and gamespy which have been going for eons so it might be decent.

I like D2D server find, as if there's one game I might try online it's Battlefield 2, and it has a great matching utility.

After using the D2D download manager, I must say Steams is a million times more refined, but D2D is a good service and alternative as it has things that steam has not got.

Overall I think Steam is better, by quite a bit. But I will also be using D2D.
