Howdy :)

I'm in the mood for getting a copy of ET:QW, and nowadays I prefer to grab my games over Steam. The only quandry is, ET:QW is currently $39.99 on Steam, whereas it's only $29.95 on D2D.

I've never used Direct2Drive before, how does it work? Is it similar to Steam? Will it keep my games updated automatically, and allow me to redownload purchased games if I lose my local copy?

Cheers :)

You can buy it retail for less than £10, it's on a downward curve playerwise also.

Ah, I don't mind the small playerbase, as I intend to play it mostly at Lans :)

Ugh, retail.. that'd mean getting off my butt and going to a shop, and then installing from the DVD!

You would have to install it either way :)

Besides you can get it from etailers for under £10 so no need to go to retail shop. Unless you absolutely have to have it today - but then you got to wait for download anyway.

Edit:
With D2D, you need to patch manually. The first time you run a game it gets authenticated online, but it will not bother you after that. After about 5 installs you will need to contact them for a new authentication code.

Its pretty straight-forward. Have bought 3 games through them myself.

I'm ultra lazy ;)

paid the extra fiver and got it from steam.. none of that installing or patching manually malarky for me!
