Directional tyres, in the wrong direction

About three months ago I purchased an 07 BMW 320D from a main dealer. I've had a few issues (all the locks breaking, them breaking my hands free kit) but generally I'm pleased with my purchase. However, when I got out of the car today I noticed that two of the tyres are on the wrong way around (directional of travle is pointing in the wrong direction. I have a couple of questions:

1. Is this dangerous?
2. Will this have caused the tyres to wear in an odd way (I've done around 6k miles in it)

I'm taking it in for a service tomorrow but want to know in advance if I shoul be demanding new tyres or if swapping them around will be ok.

Thanks in advance,
Basher

What tyres are they? Are you sure they are directional tyres? I would expect to see Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT's or similar on an 07 plate BMW which IIRC are not directional tyres?

Give me 30 mins and I'll check. They deffinatately have an arrow with 'direction of travel' pointing the wrong way.

I wouldn't expect them to do much given you bought it 3 months ago, but they might swap them for you?

If it's dangerous or cause weird wear then they will do something. I read on another forum it would be an mot failure - is this true?

I'm guessing they've put some crap tyres on for me?

The Ecsta SPT KU31 are the best tyres Kumho currently make but they are a mid range tyre really.

They're not crap but nor are they brilliant.

They say the KU31 XRP was developed primarily for the Cooper though, and subsequently various 1, 3 and 5 series.

KUMHO introduced its first XRP or Extended Run-Flat Performance version of the ECSTA SPT. KU31 for the Mini Cooper in 2005. This has now been joined by some of the most popular BMW 1, 3 Series and 5 Series fitments and several new sizes are planned for introduction by the end of 2008.

It is an MOT fail.

Khumos are ok. They are not great, multi award winning tyres but neither will they maliciously deposit you in the first available ditch.

I use the the same tyres on my Volvo.

You can fail an MOT for having a number plate light out though, that's hardly dangerous.

Just switch the wheels around, left to right, the direction will be correct then.

Are you sure they are the wrong way around? the Ultrac Sentessas or however you spell them look like they are on back to front when they are correct iirc

They are not what I expect to be finding dealers fitting to AUC stock, though they are not exactly ditchfinders.

Some dealers will fit any old rubbish....I remember my dad taking his Passat to a VW main dealer some years back when it was about a year old to have a tire fitted as he had a puncture, now he's the sort of person who will take a car somewhere and say 'fix this/fit that' and pay up at the end without checking too thoroughly, especially at a reputable main dealer. Imagine our surprise when they had put a Nankang tyre on and wanted to charge £105 for the privelige....

This was the only thing wrong on my car on its last MOT! Numpty fitters put one of the tyres on the wrong way

erm now i've been drinking this evening but that rotation arrow is pointing forwards as far as i can see

If you're talking about the photo of the E46 M3 I posted, that's clearly not his 2007 320D, it was just an example showing the fact the direction is marked on the sidewall :p

excuse my drunken ignorance :) i did think the brakes looked a tad tasty

I got a part-worn fitted to her Renault and the MOT spotted it was fitted the wrong way round. Can't remember what make or model but you couldn't tell and it had done a few thousand miles of mixed driving.
