Directx 11 problems - ATI 5850

I recently purchased a ATI Powercolour 5850 from Overclockers as I was interested in getting into games utilising dx11 graphics. So far, the card has been amazing, and is performing my current games very well. However, I recently bought AVP which has the option of using dx11, however, my system doesn't appear to be using dx11 at all, and the game says it cannot recognise any dx11 hardware.

I've installed the latest catalyst drivers, but this hasn't solved the problem. I have also tried rolling back the drivers to 9.1 as advised by the steam forums, but this doesn't work either.

I was wondering if it was my actual hardware that was a problem, as when i run dxdiag it says I'm only running dx10 still. Any advice would be much appreciated!

You need the directx 11 update from microsoft, I think you can get it from windows update. Vista was only directx10 so that's the reason.

You got a direct X update installed?

Installed service pack 2, directx redist. and installed directx 11 from microsoft. Everything now runs brilliantly.
