Fingers crossed for Windows 10 as Win 8 is like Vista.
 
Just about time... Windows 8.1 is brilliant for gaming, not for sure on a corporate point of view.

PC Gamer should be a bit less childish, Windows 8 without a start button at all was a pain on Desktop but 8.1 in its current iteration is a very good OS and well saying it is like Vista it is not true at all (IMHO).

Vista was as bad as Windows ME (which was the worse OS ever made).

Totally in agree with Microsoft for once, they should just support PC gamers a bit more, especially seen the Xbox One poor performance.
 
inb4 this turns into a windows 7 vs 8/8.1 debate. Honestly having used 7 for ~2years before moving to 8.1 about 4 months ago I can honestly say I can live with either. If anything I prefer 8.1 more due to it being a bit faster and having less shiny taskbars. It also seems to work better with older games (no disco colours) compared to 7.

As for being on topic, while it's a little sad to see Microsoft essentially damning 7 so soon, it makes sense overall for them as it gets more people onto 8.1 or 10 therefore boosting sales, and I suppose they don't run into as many compatability problems either.

I like win 7 but I'm also ready for a change, i wont worry until there is DX12 games however and i will wait for MS to say if or if its not going to support it rather then a GPU vender thats has a rival API

Exactly!!! I use it too and makes me laugh when noobs complain about windows 8 and the clueless garbage that they use as excuses because they read it somewhere and jumped on the bandwagon :rolleyes:
