Had this issue last week, and re-installed windows 7 professional 64bit again with a key provided by my university through msdnaa.

However, the problem is still persisting and i seek assistance from guru's in here, as i am baffled as i thought a full re-install of Win7, would give a fresh DirectX install (or so i would believe)

..............................

Keeps flashing up as;

Direct X has encounter an unrecoverable problem, Check readme for details.

However i've just installed my first game after a full system re-install with a new win7 key from Uni.

Installed all my drivers, and updated to 280.26 NVidia drivers and its still not working.

Anyone know of this as a current issue with the new NVidia Drivers?

How come after a full re-install DirectX is still failing when any game is started? It loads to black screen, then haults, going to desktop and flashing the error.

Apologies as i created a thread a week ago, however this is more of a refined error now.

Anyone know what i can do?

Thanks before hand.

Current Specs if needed;

Windows 7 Professional 64bit Service Pack 1

CPU: AMD Phenom II x2 545 Dual-core processor (~3.0ghz)

RAM: 4GB (came with machine, have no idea of brand)

MOBO: NVidia nForce 720a chipset

GPU: NVidia GeForce G210 512MB - Drivers; 280.26 (newest drivers)
.........................

If this has been posted in the wrong section, i apologise, as i thought this would get more attention :).

Thanks again.

Have not run into this problem before, but have you tried updating DX.

Just have. Using the dxwebsetup available from Microsoft themselves.

Thought it had worked so i reinstalled chipset drivers and some realtek audio drivers and rebooted.

Returned and tried to test the game and it crashed immediately.

How would i fully remove all of the Graphics Drivers? as one by one in CCleaner is a bit pants.

Remove them in windows control panel and then delete any folders, set to vga and reboot.

I did a clean install of 275.33 drivers, which wiped all of my previous drivers and installed after a reboot.

Crashed again so im updating DX and then if nothing comes of that, then i will leave it until i get my new pc in october.

:(

Does it just flash up when you try to launch a game?

What game is it? (Maybe it's game specific)

I remember I think it was battlefield BC2 gave me a similar problem because it was trying to run in DX10 mode when the graphics card I had only supported 9. Just a suggestion.

A few things to try from another forum:

A. Please make sure that hardware acceleration is set to Full in your display properties as follows:
1. Right click the desktop
2. Select Properties
3. Click the settings tab
4. Click Advanced
5. Click the Troubleshooting tab
6. Verify that the Hardware Acceleration slider is set to Full.

A. Make sure that all DirectX features under the Display Tab in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool are set to Enabled as follows:
1. Click START
2. Click RUN
3. Type "dxdiag" and click OK
4. Click the Display tab of the DirectX Diagnostic tool.
5. Verify that all DirectX features are set to "Enabled".

Any game i am afraid.

Tried everything and no luck, as for the hardware acceleration, i cannot find a properties menu when right clicking the desktop?

Win7 Professional 64bit is my OS

1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
2. Double click Personalization and select Display Settings.
3. Click Advanced Settings.
4. Click Change Settings on the Troubleshooting tab.
5. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider
6. Click Apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.
7. Click OK to close the Display Properties dialog box.
8. Restart Windows.

My device doesn't support it so I can't test it :)

I'm not sure if it will sort your problem but hey, it's worth a try.

Might also be worth trying to install the directx from the actual game disc just to see if it actually updated ok. As for removing drivers completely you can use driver sweeper. Use it at your own risk though, I remember last time I used it, it caused some issue with updating Windows 7 to SP1.

what games are you trying? does your 210 geforce support the required direct x features, and when you install the game (if its not dx 10/11) then are you letting it install, since it has to and will have problems since your not installing the required direct x 9 files to make it run.
