Would be nice if MS included some kind of a release note with their updates, probably not worth it though as DirectX updates never seem to have any performance benefits, just compatability I guess?

Yeah Filehippo picked this up for me so I downloaded the redist earlier and installed. Didn't actually take that long!

They don't have to because end users aren't supposed to install these updates, a game has to be written to support a specific version of the DirectX update and if that game supports it then it will include that version in the installer so it's pretty pointless to even install these updates.
