I am slightly confused with Directx.

I know Directx 11 get mentioned for gaming, but Microsoft download link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
is for Version 9.

Is version 11 something completely different or just designed as part of game installs.

We have issues at work that appear graphics related (BSODs etc) and have been asked to use the latest version of Directx so it has thrown me a bit as to what to install.

Generally anything that uses DirectX will include the necessary files as part of the installation process. Have you looked at the memory dumps Windows creates whenever something goes horribly wrong?

Thanks for that limk.
So directx 11 is a part of Windows 7 anyway and any updates would be via Windows Updates.
In that case it must be up to date as the machines are fully patched.

They are new Latitude series laptops and have been regularly generating BSODs.
The dmp files point to directx or nvidia graphics as the culprits, although the users are not generally using anything graphically intensive.
In fact apart from the same BSOD errors, there are no other constants.

Another option was to install Nvidias own drivers rather than Dell, but I have just found there are both BIOS and chipset updates put for these laptops so this may also be worth trying.

Are the systems set to make a full kernel dump? This might be the default setting but it's certainly worth checking.
