I've just taken delivery of my new Acer Aspire 5612WLMi and obviously, I wish to remove all of the crap and install my own copy of Windows XP Pro + software that I have already.

It didn't come with a restore disk, but you can make one from the computer itself so I'm currently doing that. The only problem is, how do I get the drivers? Will they all be on these backup discs?

Also, the HDD is partioned equally and I guess one of these is a backup drive to restore the PC. Now, I don't need/want two partitions so I'll simply merge them... BUT if I want to sell the laptop and restore using the factory DVDs, will there be a problem if the HDD is no longer partitioned?

Thanks,

Phil.

Have a look at this thread

bledd. posted a link to a program that will extract your drivers and save them into a folder. IE if you run the program from the desktop, it creates a folder called Drivers and puts them in there :)

I tried it on my work laptop (HP nx something or other) and took a few mins and was done.

Edit:Oops, or you could just download the lastest versions from the link Wesley has posted above!
