Dirt cheap upgrade?

At the moment I have;

Pentium 940 processor
7800GTX
2gb 5200 RAM

I can get for about £100 a second hand uprade through someone I know for;

Atlon 64x2 6000+
Asus M3N78 pro mobo
either an HD 4850 or 9800GTX
4gb 6400 RAM

Simple question really - if I upgrade my system to the above will it play the games I want to play (Streetfighter 4, Fallout 3, Arkham Asylum etc, with Modern Warfare 2, Resident Evil 5, Dragon Age etc in the coming months) at 1280x1024 on high setting for next 12 months or so? At that point I can afford a much better upgrade (or new system) but want something fairly decent for a cheap price to last until then.

Cost wise at MM market prices:

Atlon 64x2 6000+ £30
Asus M3N78 pro mobo £30
either an HD 4850 or 9800GTX £50
4gb 6400 RAM £30

So on open market its £140 ish so if you can pick it up for £100 I would say go for it as you can see by the charts it would be a major boost.


edit also you could drop a phenom II into that mobo cpu support list

Brilliant thanks for that info - sounds like i'll definatly go for it then, as you say I could start my upgrade next year with a phenom and go from there.
