Colin McRae Dirt demo:
The game graphics are the best I've ever seen in a racing game.
At max quality with 2x AA the fps dropped to 19 & averaged around 30/40 with the buggy, with an 8800GTX, granted I dont have quadcore but omg  .
A PS3 port? hmm is it cheaper to get a PS3 rather than a 8800ultra lol.
I dont see how its fair on people with cards like a 7800, though I suppose the graphics come at a price.
My pc is plugged into an extension with a power level indicator which redlines when 3kw is drawn or the amps = 3kw ?.... well this game is the only game I've seen to hit the redline

Its definitly not a port from PS3. They are porting it to the PS3 from xbox, but as far as ive read (on their forums) the pc aint a port. done seperate.

you are missing some there, it may be driver related, but i have played the game with the rig below and it has much better performance that that

Maybe my old x2 4400 dinosaur is not up to the job anymore (tear shed...)

did no1 else think DiRT was poo? Maybe i missed something?

I don't really see what all the fuss is about:

-Appalling performance
-Graphics are not as amazing as some make out
-Demo is really short
-Handling feels well dodgy
-Buggy (e.g. pad stops working for no apparent reason)

^bear in mind this is coming from a fan of the CMR series.

it was the worst demo ever Ever EVER.

im a huge racing game simulator fan/addict and the phyisics felt no better than colin mcreae rally for the playstation one.

the force feedback was OFF as standard, what a STUPID design because at first i thaught the game didnt even have steering wheel force feedback, (btw i use a G25) the game doesnt support H shifter.

it felt to have more grip than a f1 car on asphalt even on the dirt.

graphics wasnt no where neer as good as they said they was.

and btw i got around 30/45fps on the buggy track with the ai's 1680x1050 res all full details at 4x AA, HD 2900 XT,

my fps never dropped below 27 tho with full everythin and 4xaa i tryed all tracks aswell, 100% rubbish game :(

Performance wise remember the 360 and PS3 versions are capped at 30 FPS, I think the graphics looks pretty sweet :)

Something not right there like, perhaps CPU? Although I'm only 150Mhz more and it runs low 30's for me, and I have a slower graphics card.

1280x1024 (2xAA / 16xAF)
All settings ULTRA bar,

Shadows - Medium
Trees - Medium
Foliage - Medium

Runs great. If I have everything on ULTRA it's low 20's.

It's not that bad....

-Performance, although not great (possibly because it's only a demo) is still very playable.

-Graphics, well I love them. HDR, motion blur, great reflections and attention to detail.

-Short demo? 3 cars and 3 individual tracks.... more than most demos, which give you like one playable level.

-Handling. I agree, however, after adjusting the advanced options it plays much better.

-Buggy. I agree. My control pad went funny as well.

as far as iam concerned colin mcrae 1 on the ps hit the sweet spot for handling, looked good for its day too. i tried the dirt demo and it felt a bit 'fake' in want off a better word. like i wasn't steering the car i was just rotating it around a centre line.

hard to explain.

I put mine on high settings, 3200 venice,2gig, x1800xt

I diddnt bother checkinfg fps, it felt smooth to me when playing it :p

plays ok. pity its a crap game. The handeling on the dirt track (not in buggy) seemed like it was an F1 car on the dryest day of the year!

(deleted it)

i get about 40 odd fps on the buggy's, but when im in amongst all the other buggy's bashing about it drops to as low as 32-33fps, the staged one does about 37-40fps, and the Subaru stage does about 44fps, thats at 1280x1024 everything on high with 2xAA, i think it looks great, just needs optimizing so it runs better, which the final one shoud be, hopefully lol. :D

Im on the official 158.22's for XP though, only thing i get is the main menu randomly freezes for a couple of seconds every now and again, well weird.
