Just the US store and the update is here !

Today’s PLAYSTATION Store update will feature demos for upcoming PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) titles, DiRT and NCAA Football 08, and new trailers for Folklore and TimeShift. Also check out the second installments of the Heavenly Sword “Making of” video feature and animated series.

Below are the details of these and other exciting new offerings:

•DiRT demo (free): Get off road, be the fastest and stay in control with this new demo that takes players on an adrenaline fuelled ride through a massive range of off road racing.

•NCAA Football 08 demo (free): Lead by example and take control of the game in NCAA Football 08. The all-new Campus Legend mode and Dynasty Mode put all your skills, integrity and ingenuity to the test.

•Folklore “A Tale of Two Strangers” Trailer (free): Get drawn in and learn more about Ellen and Keats, two strangers who meet in the mysterious town of Doolin and discover the gateways to the Netherworld.

•TimeShift Trailer (free): Dr. Aiden Krone has made a Time Jump across the space-time continuum – a reckless act with frightening consequences. Now, a disturbing alternate reality has evolved within the bleak and rain-soaked Alpha District. Armed with the experimental Beta Suit, you alone are able to slow, stop and reverse the flow of time. Only with this ability can you lead the uprising to victory and put an end to Krone’s madness.

•Heavenly Sword “Making of” No. 2 (free): In “Episode Two: Bringing Design to Life,” see the development of characters including Nariko, Kai and King Bohan as they go from stills on a concept artist’s drawing board to moving, fighting beings on an animator’s computer screen.

•Heavenly Sword Anime No. 2 (free): In “Episode Two: Guardians of the Sword,” the power of the Heavenly Sword is too strong, so strong that no mortal man can resist it. Yet for those who succumb to temptation, the glory is fleeting. Wielding the sword carries a heavy, heavy price.

•Movie Trailers (free): Download movie trailers for the upcoming releases, Bros Solomon, Wall E and Lives of Others (on Blu-ray Disc).

Just gave dirt a go, the only difference I can see between the 360 and the PS3 demo's, the 360 demo has tearing, the PS3 has no tearing, graphically they looked identical, load times are identical.

Then, why the **** didn't they release the game at the same time if it is identical?

Isn't there any EU PSN update at all, I checked last night and nothing new

Think this week there was an Armoured Core demo, and a few heavenly sword videos, so not much really.

Wasn't on the site last night, maybe they updated the site even later than usual.

I will check again tonight after work.

The 360 game had tearing, lots of it, so if they've improved that its a job well done.

Not noticed any tearing on the 360 version, then again i didn't notice any major framerate dips thats others have mentioned, too busy crashing and enjoying the game

Just downloaded it and it looks quite nice. No jaggies and a pretty decent framerate. Haven't seen the 360 version so I can't compare though!

If it has antialiasing that is a big plus because I think DiRT uses HDR and HDR+FSAA is difficult on a PS3.

So what do people recommend, buy the PC version (Demo runs crap even with 8800GTS) or wait for the PS3 version?

People are running DiRT on Ultra on this forum with 8800GTS cards, though I think that may well be the 640MB version.

Demo was pretty bad though, plus a patch came out with improved perforamance IIRC.

Thanks for the heads up, been waiting for a demo of this to try out, seeing as my PC struggled with the demo.

If this version looks and runs fine, I shall get the PS3 version when it comes out.

Just out of interest, while I was checking the US store for this, I also looked at the Hong Kong store, and found a demo of Bladestorm, so downloading that too for a look :)

V1N.

I have a 640MB card and it runs at ~30fps on Ultra but it doesn't feel smooth at all, it is one of those games that only feels smooth at >40fps and to get that requires a lot lower IQ and even then the buggy level is still not quite good.

Feels smooth as anything to me even at 30, seen many people think the same for DiRT.

I don't remember who but someone with a 8800GTS was running it at 40+ with dips to 30 on Ultra.

I don't see nearly as much tearing as I always see people complaining about on here. The only ones I can recall recently are Dead Rising and Saints Row (in the cutscenes).

Dirt was 100% smooth for me.

I have ran the demo on PC (8800GTS 640mb), 360 and PS3. The PS3 and 360 versions were smoother than the PC one, the 360 had tearing (vga cable though, perhaps it wouldnt tear with component) and the PS3 had no tearing.

The 360 one can be had for £24.99, the PS3 is going to be £30 minimum, the PC one £17.99 or so.

360 would be the best bang for buck unless you have an ultra fast PC.

Totally off topic, but why do some of these new PC graphics Cards have 640MB of embedded RAM? Seems like a really strange figure. Historically I have seen 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 etc.

How big is this demo on PSN, might give it a download tonight.
