Okay, want advise on which one I should get (I will get both eventually but the second one won't be for a while yet).

I am erring towards Dirt. Have played the demo to death and I like the fact that controlling the cars is quite easy and is not at all frustrating.

But then there is Forza 2, which looks like it may have more long term appeal with the tweaking of the cars n stuff. However how much fun is this, as I have never tried such a feature before; will it appeal to a 'traditionally non-racing guy. Also the 'simulator aspect of Forza I think leads me to question it's appeal. I know that there is a arcade mode however I know I will not want to play that, as if I did I might aswell buy Dirt.

Anyway - anyone who has played the demos, will understand and know where I am coming from. I don't know which one to purchase - advise please so I can make up my mind - cheers in advance.

Forza is the more polished game overall, although some people tend to find it gets a tad dull the more you play it.

Dirt has more flaws; lower framerate, sometimes iffy handling and car 'feeling'. Some tracks or races are very 'meh', but there are some I've done that make you think wow! It does tend to feel more exciting, and is more accessible straight away though.

My main issues with Dirt though are that there don't seem to be any snow races, and a lack of weather effects - which is criminal for this type of game. There is quite a big variety in the types of vehicle you get to race though, which sorta makes up for it.

Both games aren't perfect by any means, but they are both completely different. Just depends what sort of racing you prefer.

I have juts read a PC Review of Dirt and they said it was an ace game however the online modes are lacking. THis is for PC - I would get the 360 version obviously.

Can anyone tell me what the online modes are like for Dirt. Can you play one on one modes, or many players on one track?

Also, does it have split screen two player? Racing games are the only genre my wife plays (and generally beats me). If it does then it might be a game we can play together.

Its exactly the same on all platforms, a non-existent multiplayer mode...

Well i have just traded forza in for dirt, got 28 quid for forza which is good as i only paid 30. Anway i prefer dirt, however dont attempt to use the wheel with dirt its impossible.

Does Forza?

Forza does but you can only race head to head shockingly. you can get round it by doing system link with a friend but what happened to AI with splitscreen i dont know.

And Dirt dosnt have splitscreen the multiplayer side of game is total shambles.

The graphics on Dirt are fantastic i have to say, it does get a bit choppy at times but nothing bad, its really good fun. Just finding it a lot more entertaining than forza, the menu system is odd though prefer a classic menu to this 3d flying shapes affair.

I was hoping that DiRT would be the Xbox 360's equivalent of MotorStorm. Am I correct in saying it's nowhere near (esp. multiplayer-wise)??

Dirt is the best looking racer on the 360 in my opinion. It looks frighteningly realistic in places. I havent played Forza 2 since i got Dirt.

Stick with the wheel, i have been sticking with it and although it is very hard and very challenging, it is a load of fun with the wheel :)

Im actually faster with the wheel on both DiRT & Forza 2.

There is no weather in F2 is there? Yes you get different coloured sky but I have yet to experience any rain or anything? Which is disappointing I have to admit - but then I guess its only European races which actually happen in bad weather - dont all major US motorsport events get cancelled /postponed if there is bad weather?

Forza 2 or DiRT?

Having played both for several hours I'd pick Forza 2 every time.

More depth, longevity (online play for a start), better graphics and just an all round better game.

Can't believe that they screwed up the multiplayer side of Dirt. I mean one on one on the super special stage is so obvious. Can't believe the devs couldn't be arsed to put it in.

Well hearing that Dirt has no MP side, then it looks like it is Forza2 for me. Prefer Dirt, but the MP is where any game lives on, so I am left with no other option.

They got MP on the PC, rather absurd they left it out on the 360. I think it's apples and oranges really cos it really depends what type of cornering you prefer. If you like sliding get DiRT, if your after a racing line game get Forza, (yeah I know you can drift and all) Personally I like sliding, so I will always prefer games like PGR etc

Dirt for me, after completing Forza which was not fun after Lv20>50 then Dirt just simply owns it in this respect. Also i'm finding the online aspect actually quiet good, racing alone isn't as bad as others have made it out to be, you couldn't really have other cars on the same track on stage sections because thats not what its all about anyway. Yes they could have implemented it for the special stages but then again thats proabably for Dirt 2, lol , like most games, things are left out on 1st release and appear in the next. Overall i'm finding Dirt a much better game than Forza 2

Though forza 2 was better gameplay wise as Dirt was too simple to control although, like what has been said, it is getting rather tedious after lever 20 ish and I've found that with a few simple mods to whatever car your using you just blow away the competition which gets a little boring.

Have to try out the online mode later. anyone up for a race add me and gizza shout later. :p
