Haven't played a racing game for years and am looking to buy one of these today after narrowing down the best racing games. I like Project Cars' broader appeal and beautiful visuals but I heard Dirt Rally offers more fun when it comes to the actual driving experience.

I definitely prioritise 'funness'. Which do you recommend? I will buy one later today before the sale ends.

I have both and they as you know both different types of racing but I have played project cars a lot more than dirt. They are both excellent but project cars has more variety which I like

I like both but I play Dirt Rally a lot more. It is significantly more challenging but the driving feels superb. However, I found blasting around tracks in Project Cars really enjoyable as well. It all boils down to what type of racing you like more.

TBH, you can't really go wrong with either, especially if you plan to get both in the end.

Both great games. Choose the kind of racing you like most: nailing an apex on your favourite track at top speed, or hooning through Wales sideways an inch away from crashing out.

Will say that project cars has multiplayer whereas dirt is all time trials

I have both and for me it would be Project Cars for the diverse mixture of tracks and cars. Dirt Rally is wonderful graphically but not without its 2d bitmap modelling (people!) project cars is a visual treat, like driving a photograph.

Also project cars supports VR if you have that, not sure on any planned support for dirt, it would be mazing with it though.

Project cars definitely. Dirt rally is great but it's a pain if you have a wheel but no handbrake. Using a button on the wheel is fatiguing for me personally and it really restricts how good you can be. I end up having to use auto gears to use a paddle as the handbrake which is a step backwards for me. Manual gears all day long.

I'm really interested in Project cars is it like gran turismo or grid? Something you can just playing with out spending hours on car setups, as I'm not bothered about have really realistic car game.

I have not played a car game since grid and quite fancy a car game at the moment.

I'm not sure if I could trade tearing round nurburgring in a classic lotus f1 for pikes peak in a monster Hill climb rally. Just get both lol

There are options to set it up like that or go full simulation if you required. There are no tracks or cars to unlock, they are just available from the start.

Definitely Dirt Rally for me. The driving model and physics are just superb, makes you feel like you're really there.

Thank you all. I've decided to go with Project Cars.

Should I get the Game of the Year Edition? I'm a bit hesitant since Project Cars 2 is apparently going to be released in the not too distant future.

I jump between Dirt Rally and Assetto Corsa. I was part of the group of funding for Project Cars, but I prefer Assetto.

Like music, it depends on my mood. I enjoy them both.
