Dirt Review

The other downfall we've found with DiRT's is its inconsistent frame rate. There's been a lot of hoo-hah surrounding the fact it only runs at 30 frames per second - having played the game a lot we're happy to report it's not a problem and most of the time it runs smooth and fast. However, there are times, particularly when there are lots of environmental objects at the edge of the track, when things get a little choppy. We're not talking game-ruining slowdown, but it's noticeable. To be honest most players will be happy to overlook the occasional blip considering how fantastic the game looks at all other times and how spot-on the damage engine is, but if you're a graphics whore who cannot bear screen tearing or a drop in frame-rate it's best you know about such problems before you splash the cash.
Another 'next gen' game which can't even maintain a low 30fps smoothly

Considering CM's three 'last gen' CMR games didn't suffer this crap why should the 360?

am sorry but am still getting dirt i mean where is it written that every game thats released has to have a multiplayer aspect

I think if im laying down £30-40 on a game there should be a multiplayer aspect to the game to provide some longevity unless it's an rpg.

It's worth pointing out at this stage that the handling feels quite loose, which can be a little disconcerting at first, but we feel it really adds to the experience and feels just right. After all, most of the time you're racing across loose gravel and dirt so it wouldn't feel right if your car stuck to the track. Having said that, those events set around Tarmac tracks feels suitably different from off road challenges.

I hope that the handling has changed from the demo, because the demo felt anything but 'loose', the cars had way too much grip.

Dissapointing that it can't maintain a solid 30fps too.

Yeah but it can easily be had for £28 and call it a SP game ;)

True but i chose Flatout UC instead for £30. I was really looking forward to dirt but the mp side of the game is a real let down..., I have no doubt that dirt is a great SP game and if i do ever feel like playing it i can always borrow it off my m8 who has it on preorder.

I wish they had put DiRT back a bit, it's not that we need so FM2 and DiRT at the same time..

I am hoping the PS3 version, with the few weeks extra dev time polishes the graphics a bit more... which seems the usual story, rush it out on platform A, spend weeks/months extra dev time on Platform B, inevitably Platform B looks better then Platform A..

But it's still a pretty decent game, despite the appaling PC Demo that needed an uber PC to run it well...
