Over the years I've heard of all sorts of solutions to cleaning our monitors, some safe, some not.

What are people using these days?

Water from a spray bottle and a microfibre cloth.

For anything more stubborn Glasses wipes to remove the offending residue, then wipe again with microfibre

Screen mom from ocuk. Comes with a micro fibre cloth and lasts ages.

Antec Advance 3x.
Been using it so long, I'm not sure they even make it any more, but it works great on monitors, cases, case windows, TVs and similar.
