I didn't work this summer because I'm taking all my semester 1 exams in the resit period (because im brilliant and studied abroad, not because i failed them all)

But from September September 1st-19th I'd really like to get a full-time temp job, presumably doing something mind-numbing in an office, looking to make about £600.

I've been a wastrel student for a long time so I'm not clued up on temp work.

Any tips?

You're looking to make £600 in half a month? In a temporary job?

Good luck, lol.

Indeed.

I suggest 2 or 3 jobs.

Mind-numbing office crap during the day and bar work at night.

EDIT: Shelf stacking actually pays an ok wage!

No, he is looking to make £600 in 3 weeks. Thats 15 working days. So he wants to make £40 a day. Or, in other words, a minimum wage job would suffice.

Whats the problem with that, smartass? :)

As Abraham says just look for a temp agency (or multiple ones if they aren't sniffy about that - some don't like you signing up to more than one) and you'll need to sit a couple of basic tests to determine your office skills/numeracy/literacy etc normally but then you just wait for them to find you a job.

Quite a few people in full time work don't make that.

but temp agency work is generally reasonable rates because they need people, that's why they've got a temp in, you might not be guaranteed for the whole time but you could easily get £50 a day when there is work

£600 AFTER tax?

Just to add to this, I'd do this as soon as they will let you considering when you want to work, which would probably be now

Oh do stop trying to be clever, you posted a load of rubbish, simple as.

Yes, £600 after tax becuase:

a) He is a student, therefore if he only works during holidays he can claim tax relief
b) He is a student, therefore it is unlikely his total yearly earnings will be above his personal allowance anyway, therefore... no tax.

There is a flaw in your logic as tax will be taken at the point of payment, however he can claim it back comes April next year but he won't get what he wanted now in September.

with the right paperwork if you state that you're not going to earn over the threshold in the year then you wont be taxed.

I was never taxed for my security work until i started a full time job as well
