I've been out of university for a year an a half now. While I was there I somehow went from 17st to 13st 4lbs. Also, I suffer from Crohn's Disease, although it's very much under control (I've gone from taking four pills a day to taking two as and when I remember, which is probably twice a week).

Since I've been home, though, I've been gradually going up and up in weight. Christmas tipped me over the brink. I'd always said that 15st was my limit (at least in terms of me being fat and not muscular). I hit that limit over Christmas so here I am...ready to diet and work out!

I'm counting calories using my fitness pal. I try and have 1800 cal/day.

My stats as of 19th January 2014:

Age: 24
Height: 6ft
Weight: 14st 9lbs

My aim is to get down to 13st and to get fit! I want to run 5k in the next 2-3 months. I've managed two runs of about 2k thus far.

I did my first session at the gym tonight. I'm going purely to use their weights. I'm much happier running outside - treadmills are horrible! I found some very helpful chaps at the gym who showed me the ropes and how to benchpress. Turns out that it's much harder than I thought!! Benching the bar is slightly embarrassing, though I did manage a little more (and they weren't judging me :)).

I'm doing stronglifts, though did a bit extra, so did something along the lines of (lost count sorry!!):

Barbell Row: 50kg 5x5 - I really struggled with this as I'd forgotten that the bar was 20kg
Bench press: 20kg 3x10 and 40kg 2x5
Squats: 40kg 5x5 - these were relatively easy

I'll be trying to alternate running on one day, and stronglifts the other, so please wish me luck :)

Thanks :)

Weighed in at 14st 8lbs today, so 6lbs down!

I'm aching from the workout yesterday, particularly at the bottom of my neck from when I squatted. Should this point really hurt??

Depending on where you are holding the bar... it should be on the top of your traps, if you will.

It might feel sore bexause your muscles are not used to holding somthing heavy up there. :)

Hahaha yeah man! I will do, I saw a video where this chap said that's a position you can put it in, but my vertebrae sticks out too much/I don't have muscle there to protect it. Anyway, I'll do as you say.

So I've not lost any more weight, maybe even put on a pound!! I've been trying hard, but it's rare that I fall under my calorie goal of 1800/1740 calories.

Went to the gym last night for the third time.

Squats - 50 kg 5x5
Barbell row - 35 kg 5x5
Bench press - 30 kg 5x5
Incline bench press - 30 kg 5x5
Overhead press - 35 kg 3x5 / 25 kg 2x5
Deadlift - 40 kg 5x5

All felt good, though tiring, and I felt like I was pushing myself a bit on some of them, which was good. Still loooow weights though!!

Evening,

I haven't lost any more weight, though the diet isn't going awfully. I do tend to go over my calories a bit though...

I struggled to get to equipment at the gym today, but I managed:

20 minutes on a bike
Barbell row - 5x5 - 30kg
Barbell press - 5x5 - 30kg
Dead lift - 5x5 - 50kg, my pb, then went to 70kg for 1x5

Not an amazing session but I'm really enjoying it.

Peace
