i have an ASUS EAX1300PRO GPU and the cooling fan on it is extremly loud, could i disconnect it?
i have a Antec sonata II case with the funnell thing and the whole you can push out perfectly matches the postition of my GPU and i have a 92mm fan i could put in there. So could i dis-connect the GPU fan and just use my 92mm in the funnell thing?

wouldn't recommend it unless you want a dead GPU :o

just get a passive heatsink or other silent option if you want to reduce the noise

well get a heatsink that doesn't require a fan to cool it

Either that or an Arctic cooling. You'll find that most of them will fit (but you should check for compatibility at their website) and you'll thank your ears for it. I have one in my 7600GT and even with all the other fans switched off in my PC and most of the HD's sleeping, i still can't hear it!
