Disable adaptive brightness on laptop?

I've recently bought a Dell laptop and the screen brightness seems to be very dim when the screen has dark images on it.

When the background is white or a light colour it is far better but I've Googled auto brightness and adaptive brightness and I just can't find any way to disable it.

All I want is for the brightness to be consistent irrespective of what's on the screen!

Any ideas?

Adjust my screen brightness automatically under settings and display? Type it into the cortana search bar if it's not there

If it's anything like my laptop (XPS 15) you need to open the Intel Graphics control panel and disable all power saving features.

It's a horrid feature if you're constantly switching between a dark theme IDE and a browser!

I've tried all combinations for adjusting the brightness but it makes no difference to the screen auto-dimming when I switch to a lighter/darker webpage!

@Pho thanks for this - I'll have a poke around the Intel control panel to see what's what!

Any tips on how to do this? I can't see anything under the Intel Graphics tab under the power settings??

And it's here FYI:
