disable laptop display to use external one

hi guys, i have an acer laptop and a kvm attached to it and to an external monitor. what i'd like to do is disable the laptop lcd and just use the external display at 1440 x 900 resolution. the laptop display is 1280 x 800.

when i just normally plug the external monitor via the kvm and switch to it i get no display until i choose "extend desktop to this monitor" but that isn't what i want to do!

the card is a x700 mobility.

please help

will that allow me to use the external monitor without setting up anything else?

ah that sounds like it! thanks, any idea how to make a shortcut / hotkey to do this - does putting the lid down do this?

cheers. by the way you can change what happens when you shut the lid in "desktop properties - screensaver - power saving - advanced"
