I have an annoying problem with Windows 7, my plasma and new AV amp.

Before I had the amp the second output from my graphics card went into HDMI 1 on the plasma. Now it goes from the graphics card to the AV amp, then to the plasma.

When I switch the amp and plasma on the displays auto detect again rather then just being there as I set them up. I realise monitor auto detection is a part of Windows 7 but can I disable it so the graphics cards always thinks the amp and plasma are on?

There are several methods to force detection of your screen. Using the Windows 7 Screen Resolution Utility you can press the Detect button, which will attempt to detect connected screens. Graphics ports on which a screen is not detected will then appear with the text “Another display not detected” by the Detect button. When a disconnected display is selected The Multiple displays field below will provide an option for “Try to connect anyway” to force detection of a disconnected screen.

Most graphics card manufacturers provide support for this feature within their driver control software. Force television detection can be found under My display is not shown… on the page Set up multiple displays in NVIDIA Control Panel. The Force TV Detection option can be found under Display Management Options under Display options in AMD Catalyst Control Center.
