As title, can I disable windows 7 page file if I have 8gb of ram? System used for gaming mostly. Thanks.

Why would you want to?

Just let Windows manage it - if it doesn't need to page, then it won't.

I'd like to save space on my boot ssd, windows takes up the space for the page file regardless of its need to be used doesn't it?

don't disable it, if you really need the space, then move the pagefile to another drive, set it as 'system managed' for that drive

Fire Wizard posted a great thread on the Pagefile not long ago - do a search.

In short he explained that generally you should leave Windows to manage it. Though if you have a large amount of RAM, it is worth reducing its size. How much you reduce it depends on how you use your computer.

As for moving it to another drive, I think that is a bad thing to do. You want the pagefile on your fastest drive. Just reduce its size.

Have you disabled hibernate mode at the command prompt? that can save a few Gb of space. Personally I'd leave the pagefile well alone and on the SSD, you'll get a performance boost from doing so.
