I just use the Windows Firewall (alongside router), does a decent job and asks for access permissions for new apps and things

I don't benefit from having it on and it is more of a nuisance than anything else because it stops me enjoying my most used app(s). Why would I want it enabled if it's function doesn't apply to me?
I'd never leave it off if I was supporting an average user though.
Vista one was a pain.
I find it unobtrusive in Windows 7 and rarely needs my input, stays on.
