Hi,

In Vista/Server 2008 in the Network center you can assign networks a type, Public or Private.

Is it possible to disable this? So that networks are always given the "Private" network type?

I have a Server 2008 machine, which is connected to two networks, the Domain network and an iSCSI network (with no gateway/dns settings), the Domain network connects fine, but as soon as I connect the iSCSI network it detects it as an Unidentified/Public network and stops me being able to RDP in via the Domain network.

Setting the iSCSI network to Private fixes this, however rebooting the server causes it to be reset to Unidentified/Public stopping me from logging in until I change it again :(

Bump.

Any one have any ideas?
Or know how Vista identifies the network it connects to?

[edit]

Ok solved, I should have looked harder at the local group policy settings the first time around :)
