Trying to disable the IE 8 screen from coming up for our users as detailed here

http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/disable-ie8-tour-welcome-screen-runonce-all-users/

I have set the setting in group policy 'Prevent performance of First Run Customize Settings' to go directly to the homepage, but i still get the notificastion.

Has anyone managed to turn the annoying IE 8 welcome screen/setup guide off through group policy?

It still keeps coming up with 'Welcome to IE 8...'

I have set both the machine and user settings for it and havent seen it so far. I'll wait to see next week when people start ringing. (I'm setting it on a domain of around 100 users)

If the user has a clean profile what you might be seeing is the FirstStartHomePage.

When we make our workstation images we preconfigure the homepage.sif (C:\WINDOWS\system32 in Windows XP)so that it goes to our Intranet page on first load. After that it uses the main Home Page setting from the GPOs.

I tried logging into a Citrix server and testing and the same welcome to IE 8 screen appears. I have looked on my machine and do not have a 'homepage.sif' file located in system32.

I do have a homepage.inf file

The message is coming up on both of the freshly installed servers

edit - thanks but think ive sorted, we have an IE policy and i had the options set in there but we also have a Citrix policy that take presidece over others where it wasnt set. Ive let boss know
