Hi, I've been using Win 10 for a while now but there's something bugging me.

When I start my machine I get my post screen which is fine, then a light blue Windows logo with a working circle which is all well and good, but then I get yet another Windows 10 screen with an ugly blue windows splash screen, a picture of my choice in a circle and a "Welcome "username".

This hangs around for 4 or 5 seconds while it does it's thing and it annoys the hell out of me.

I'm the only person that uses my machine, I don't need a welcome and a reminder of which user is logging in every time I boot up.

Is there any way to disable this screen ?

I've got a Corsair SSD that could be booting faster if it wasn't for this annoying second Windows screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Open a run box ( Windows key + R )

Type in netplwiz

a box will come up at the top of it will say " Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer " Un tick that box and press apply. When you do this you will be prompted to add your current password required to log into the account put it in and restart.

Hi, thanks for the reply but unfortunately it doesn't work.

I didn't have a password set before, so it never prompted me to enter one, but I still get the annoying splash screen saying "welcome Gary" with the blue windows background for a few seconds while it's booting into the OS.

I was hoping there might be a registry hack or something to get rid of this unnecessary screen, but after Googling I cant find anything that works.

Did you do a fresh install or just the upgrade? I did the upgrade originally and i found my boot time doubled from windows 7, after i did a fresh install my boot time was half my windows 7 boot time.
