Well my grandparents are giving me there car which the tax has now run out (well today)

But it is classed as a Disabled car but i need to get it changed over into my name. Im not classed as disabled so i need the details changing over somehow.

how will i go about doing this?

i know its not exactly an every day question this one either
thanks mark.

Hyundi Sprite no powersteering eeeeek this will be fun

When I got my car the previous owner had it registered as disabled. You will have to take your forms (v5 etc) to your Local DVLA office (it might not be that local)
They can change it back to petrol car or whatever and im pretty sure it cost me nothing to do.

You have to go to your local DVLA office these days. Mine is miles away, I had the same problem a while ago but back then you could tax a car without the V5 so I bought it, taxed it and sent the V5 for change of owner. It came back with the tax class as disabled, I claimed it was a mistake on their part, and they told me to send the V5 back with a letter stating the error and I got a correct V5 without visiting the local office. If you need to tax it straight away you'll have to go in person.

Never heard of a car being class as disabled, only the tax disc which in your case has run out so you just buy tax as normal. I did buy a car once and it had tax which turned out to be disabled so I was forced to buy another disc as the one on it was invalid(really should have been sent back by owner).

Apologies if cars can now be classed as disabled.. just not to my knowledge.

Ive had a car like this and went to the PO who told me they'd change it for me and be able to issue a disk straight away no problem. This was a few years ago though
