Hello there:-) im currently running a 6600 go at an over clocked rate of 3200! In the 680i bios there r settings to disable cores 0 1 2 or 3, if i disable cores 3 and 2 would i be using less electricity as i would assume there would be no power use from them anyway and does is matter which ones i should be disabling to go from quad to dual? Say r 0and1 a dual core and 2and3another one or is it actually another way? Sorry for my grammar using my mobile phone for this thread.

To see if it can clock higher ame also to see if it will reduce the heat. Plus people keep saying a dual core is better with higher clocks. Thinking about energy costst too.

Ok well will disabling cores 3 and 2 in the bios give me the 1st orig dual core in the the q6600 as its built with 2x dual cores cpu side by side correct? Also by disabling cores will i be reducing my energy use and wattage output or doesnt this do that and is the 4cores still using power just not appearing in windows??

power saving would be minimal, I didnt think electricity costs had gone up that much lol

i think gas and electricity have both gone up recently.....not sure how much money the above idea would save though
