Disabling keyboard keys?

Hello,

I've gone and done something REALLY stupid (I should know better:mad:) and spilled tea on my laptop. Now one of the keys randomly presses it self without being touched. I can only assume that the tea has shorted out the contact.

I switched it off and set in front of a heater at the time, which has limited the damage somewhat.

My question is now how do i disable the key in Vista, to save me having to deal with dell's tech support? It's the menu key which replicates a right click if that makes sense. I can live without it tbh.

I found this on google, what do you think?

WHat other options do you recommend?

Cheers

try it. looks like it can disable keys:) pity it doesnt work with Fn keys, i cant get my Fn keys to work in windows 7, which is a pain as i cant adjust the screen brightness without going in to the mobility centra console

Maybe give AutoHotKeys a look. it lets you write your own custom scripts to disable keys and to map them out to do other things (its very easy to write a script)

I use it to disable alt+tab, alt+shift+tab and alt+esc on some auditory training laptops at work :)

keys can also be dissabled using the current control set in the registry. I remember disabling several keys for the chairman of our company using this method.

To re-enable the keys I simply deleted the reg entries I created.
