Disabling of mouse pad...

Hi,

I'm not sure if it's possible but you never know.

I want to set my laptop so that the intergrated mouse pad doesn't work when I have a mouse plugged in via the USB, but then works again when this is removed. Is this possible?

What is the make and model of your laptop - there may be a ready made option available for the touchpad to be automatically disabled when a mouse is recognised?

If not it's probably possible to write a script for the pad to be disabled automatically when an external mouse is connected (which i think is what your asking?) - but it will probably require a bit of googling and will be dependent on your OS. Hopefully someone here will have done something similar...

If none of the above is possible, the quickest way i've found is to create shortcut to the device manger/touchpad that has the option to disable/enable the device. Not quite as efficient as auto disable but quick enough.
