Disabling Overclocking Completely

Really don't know whether I'm asking a really dumb question here or not, but here goes:

I bought one of the pre-built Overclockers PC packages a little while back, and in theory it came overclocked. I've never had any problem with the overclocking, but I do want to now completely disable it (basically I've got a separate technical problem that may be related to it, and I want to be able to eliminate overclocking as the cause).

Thing is, I really know almost nothing about overclocking, and all the information I can find online predictably relates to how to do it, not how to undo it.

So is there some easy way to reset a computer to its default clocking, like an option in the BIOS or something, or is it way more complicated than that? If it is more complicated, would it be possible to make an educated guess as to what my set-up is based on the fact that the Overclockers team overclocked it?

I'm running Windows 7, the motherboard is an ASUS P6X58D-E (I don't know what other specs are relevant, feel free to ask for any info that you think would be useful).

Thanks

usually in the bios, there is an option to load default settings.
or else just remove the cmos battery (watch battery) for 1 min and put back in :)

Oh and welcome to the forums

Just Boot into Bios & Select Default settings then select Save & Exit then press Yes on the Y bit, Job done.

If your BIOS can save multiple BIOS settings then save the current OC setup first before restoring the default settings. That way you can get it back if you want to.

Thanks for the replies guys! Guess I was overthinking it after all.

Even better, disabling overclocking did solve the problem I was having!

Cheers

your system will be still overclocking i.e turbo boost will still be enabled, also do you have a separate audio card? as setting the Pci around say 100mhz helps allot when overclocking whitch is a pretty old setting, the pre clock may of been pretty high, also heat is a a big one if you have an Xfi card if the heatsink is loose that is as they run hot.
