Howdy all,

In W7 I set the "Taskbar Buttons" to be "Never combine", therefore I have no use for the annoying Windows Thumbnail that appears as you hover over the taskbar button (I mean the thumbnail of the window that appears above the taskbar, not the preview on the desktop).

I've searched google, and the only methods I can see of turning this off is for the older builds of W7 in the group policy config. This option is still there in the config, but listed to work with Vista only (so why it's there I haven't a clue) and it no longer works.

I can't seem to find any other methods about the place, so asking here, cos one of you guys might know?

Thanks

The main method there doesn't work anymore (as mentioned above) and the other two ways aren't ideal (first one, I don't want to disable Aero theme and the second it still shows sometimes).

I don't think it is possible to disable tbh, so might have to wait and hope MS release a change in the future.

Why would you do that, it's one of the best features of W7.

Doesn't mean I have to like it? It was in Vista as well, and it was just as annoying. I don't group my taskbar items, never have, so having a thumbnail of a window that I know the contents of is pointless.

It is really annoying, I've got it disabled.

Grab the prog some guy wrote (also lets you shuffle each tab on the taskbar as well individual and some other options). He is called RaMMicHaeL it is a few posts down on page 2 version 1.1

Awesome find Grumbledock, I didn't realise only until now that you couldn't re-arrange grouped app items, I'm an ocd like that and if they aren't in the order I want I would have to close them all and re-open... can't help it. Anyway, that works a treat for that and removing annoying thumbnails!
