Lovely Wolver-ampton!
In favour of the Linksys software that comes on the cd.

HOW???

I've disabled it in services.msc but the linksys software, although installed, doesn't seem to work.

surely there's a way of getting this to work?

ermm, you disabled wifi and are now asking why it doesnt work?
No. Best option, is to turn wzc on, then configure the card with either wzc or the linksys utility, then turn off both, and the connection should connect like any other connection.

just doesnt work.

on my other machine you have to disable WZC and the netgear software kicks in, and that's the wifi connection manager, but for some bizarre reason the linksys software on this machine wont work either way.

Assuming your on SP2,

Right click > properties on the wireless network adapter, then on the Wireless Network tab, uncheck the tickbox at the top that says "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings". Your 3rd party software will now be able to register as the default :)

thanks a bundle....

spoke to 2 online techies from linkysys and neither of them suggested that!
