Disadvantages of using an AM3 CPU on an AM2+ board.

I am using this mobo:

What would be the difference between using this CPU on an AM2+ board compared to an AM3 board other than DDR3 support?

Would the CPU run slower on this board? Just the CPU, not the rest of the system.

How about overclocking issues?

I think it's just the memory, AM2 sockets run the CPU without hypertransport or something like that.

Thanks for the help. I plan on reviewing in the future so would like to know weather it would be an unfair test on CPU performance.

The Biostar motherboard has the SB700 southbridge so the HT will run at full speed. The Phenom II with DDR3 has a slight performance increase over DDR2:

Exactly what I wanted to know. Good to know that any all-CPU tests will be fair! Great thing about AMD mobos, bought this old thing cheap 6 that was made in 2008, and it can support the latest processors. Thanks AMD!
