Disappearing Recycle bin in Vista

Just got a new laptop today - nothing flash, just a Celeron M running Vista Basic, plenty good enough for my needs. I've managed to screw something up already ... although why it happened is a total mystery.

I've been installing apps and stuff all night and had just right-clicked on an installer icon and selected 'Delete' from the menu in the normal way. The icon moved to the bin but then the bin itself disappeared and has so far resisted all attempts to get it back. I've tried refreshing the desktop, setting the icons to Auto Align and/or arrange by name, but still nowt.

Any ideas what's happened, or more importantly, how I get my bin back?

Right click on desktop, Personalize, Change Desktop Icons (seen in the tasks panel) and tick Recycle Bin

Sorted - still baffled as to why it decided to remove itself in the first place though ...

Oh yeah - but having used Win2K and XP for years without any sort of problem, a couple of hours with Vista and this happens ... and I was like "Aaarrgghh - WTF?"

This has happened to me too. Also getting problems with Windows Movie maker freezing up!?
