Hello,

In a market that is already been struggling to find it's stride you now have greeded added into the mix.

Anyone else abit peed off with exclusive deals?
I like to play RE4 VR Sony exclusive, Batman exclusive and I am sure there is more.

They're companies, the aim is to make money. Batman is a system seller, that meta pitched, funded, released etc, why would they simply give up the selling power that offers them, whilst simultaneously adding much greater production costs, for a relatively small increase in potential buyers?

Batman is for kids on a kids headset, if you want reality that is virtual its not that its just marketing.

I would have liked to see a Batman in VR as more of a simulation closer to a movie experience (akin to Resident Evil) but that was never going to happen on standalone.

Sure I'd love to live Dark Knight in VR but that isn't what's on offer so meh it is what it is let Meta do their thing

I can understand the money reasons why they do exclusives but I don't like it as it means many people miss out.

The market for vr sales is too small for exclusives imo, meta bankrolled batman, Sony firewall and valve half life alyx, but for any dev to make money they need to release on all platforms

When you have likely over 90% of the market, why would you go to the effort of trying to code to many other devices?

Ok, batman won't run on all 90% of the services, but the whole point is to push more headset sales.

Never played the Arkham games? And what makes something a kids headset? Is there some particular feature that distinguishes between grown up headsets and kids ones?

I did not rush out to but a quest to play batman, and I don't know anyone that did
Assassins creed didn't seem to work as a system seller either.
Even if meta has 90% of the market its still too small to shift a lot of games

not gonna argue the toss on exclusives... i dont like them but i can see why meta would not want to fund a title only to lose sales if it were to go on the steam store etc.

however the above quoted part is just nonsense. the Quest 3 is an excellent headset...... I dont have one because i decided the quest pro was a slightly better fit for me (and i must admit i underestimated exactly how good the quest 3 was gonna be when i got my pro) but the quest 3 i would say is the best VR headset for 90% of users looking to get into VR for the 1st time.... regardless of how old they are

when Half Life Alyx is released onto the quest store maybe meta could consider releasing Batman on steam ;)

The Standalone market is big enough. The PSVR and PCVR markets are not, they are tiny.

What do you even mean? A kids game on a kids headset? What? "if you want reality that's virtual it's not" What?

Ladies and Gentlemen, what we have here is a VR snob. I have Pimax Crystal don't you know, you are all inferior. You only get real VR on my headset.

Maybe but there is no need to get personal, and its not for the reasons you concocted either I just get a bit fed up with the PR nonsense that portrays standalone titles as being the greatest thing ever when they are well off the high end pace no matter the brand.

I concocted nothing. It's plain as day in your post. You think the Quest 3 is a kids headset, you think Batman is kids game and neither will give you a good virtual experience.

None of which is true.

I just get a bit fed up with the PR nonsense that portrays standalone titles as being the greatest thing ever when they are well off the high end pace no matter the brand.

And this is worse than your previous post. Every game ever sold is marketed as the best game ever. But somehow only the marketing for standalone games is PR nonsense to you.

What's even funnier is you complaining about Batman marketing. A game that has lived up to expectations and is right up there among the best VR games/experiences in either PCVR or Standalone VR.

I've owned a £2k at the time Varjo Aero and what was Pimax's best headset at the time the 8KX with the wide fov, I've easily had the most fun with my Q3, maybe I'm a kid at heart :D

@old gamer me saying about exclusives bringing in money for companies I didn't mean from software sales necessarily, because yes after all being on all platforms may increase sales further (although Meta has 90+% of the market anyway), I meant it'd bring in money via the headsets sold needed to play the exclusive...Meta know if you want to play Batman you'll have to buy their headset.

i was under the impressions the headsets were making a loss and being heavily subsidised
this could be true of the quest 3 however that isnt that unusual. often consoles are a loss leader with the view that the profit will be made on the sale of exclusive titles (which brings it right back to the problem with the OPs take)

There are some PSVR2 exclusive games I'd love to play - Horizon - Call of Mountain, RE4, and RE Village, but unfortunately I can't (I know there are VR mods, but these aren't the same as native VR). Still I can play the vast majority of VR games across the Meta and Steam VR platforms, far more than are available on PSVR2.
