Disappointed with the Siberia V2

Not so long ago, my Roccat Kave headset took a fatal blow from my clumsiness and one of the cups broke away from the headband, time for a new headset then! Whilst my Kave's were pretty awesome, I found them to be quite heavy for prolonged sessions, so decided to hunt about for a lighter alternative.

The Kave XTD's were out of the question due to price, but during my hunting around, many a recommendation was give to the SS Siberia V2's and today I finally went ahead and purchased pair. I've only owned them for a few hours and I'm already beginning to regret that decision.

Whilst they are very light, they seem to crush my head like the proverbial wrestler from the 90's, they exert far too much pressure on my jaw just below my ears that it becomes painful to wear them for any longer than 20 mins.

Sound wise, I think the quality is pretty damned good but the volume level it can produce is wholly disappointing?!

Can any Siberia V2 owners allay these fears and tell me if the headsets vice like grip will ease over time? Will the volume improve after some hours of burning them in?

I have both siberia v1's + v2's.

The v2's definitely feel tighter but not too bad. It seems the 2 black bars that go above the headband are shorter so the exert more pressure.

The volume on mine is fine, you could also adjust it through windows. I have mine @ 50% in windows and full on the siberias adjuster and its already loud enough.

Volume on the PC is at 100% and the headset control is at maximum and the volume isn't even approaching anything I would classify as 'loud' but I can live with that...almost.

What I would like to know is if the pressure from the clamp around my head will ease up over time, or if I need to box them up and sell them on?

Maybe you just have a funny shaped head ;)

I have a pretty big head and don't seem to suffer at all. More than able to wear my Siberia's for hours on end without any problem even when I first got them. Maybe they just aren't right for you :(

With regards to sound I never mess about with the physical adjustment and just tweak all my sounds in game/windows.

Yeah, was beginning think I just have a 'unique' shaped/sized head :p

I'll try and stick with 'em for the next couple of weeks and see if they improve, if not will just have to suck it up as a bad purchase and move on.

I would return them but as with all electrical items, they cannot be returned unless there's an actual fault with them once opened/used. Sadly, me having a fat head cannot be construed into a fault with the item :D

Try pull those up a bit... not with too much force though, just lightly.

I've had the V2s for quite some time. i am on my 3rd pair, since in the first 2 the mic broke.

Anyway, at first I used to find them a bit too tight, as you said, but I felt that it became a wee bit better. I can easily wear them for 2 hours straight with no pain, but after that, it tends to hurt a little but. But after 2 hours, its expected.

I tried a few headsets of friends and stuff, and I can't imagine myself with a headset that isn't tight. I hate lose headsets. It needs to hug my head.

My sound is good too. if I max it from the HS and Windows, then it will break my ear drums :p

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I've tried 'seating' them in a variety of different positions but alas, I just don't find them comfy in the slightest, curse my oddly shaped/proportioned/sized head!

I don't necessarily want a loose headset, just one that's not trying to dislocate my jaw ;)

In any case, the search continues...

this is not actually true - some retailers try to make you think this but you have every right to open the box and inspect them - the retailer cannot make any demands in respect of the packaging

if you went to a proper audio shop they would probably have a set of each that you could try before buying - DSR states that you have every reasonable right to inspect the goods before accepting them

It definitely gets less tighter mate. I've had mine for 2 years now and they are as soft as feathers on my head. At the last LAN I went to I tried my mates newly bought ones on and noticed straight away how much tighter they were. Just give them time to bed in pal. :)
