Disaster...Help needed please

Hello everyone, I just finished doing a massive PITA cosmetic upgrade with a few little luxury items for my PC. And now I've come to turn it on, and nothing, nothing at all.

I've put a new psu in (Corsair AX850), and as far as I know have connected everything, but when I push the power button nothing happens except for a strange brief tick from somewhere, but no fans power up, no nothing.

So basically...PLEASE HELP ME :( :(. I'm at a bit of a dead end. There seems to be power coming from somewhere since there is a light on the mobo that is only on when power is running through it, and that is on, so power from somewhere is feeding it, but when I push the power button, nothing, except the tick. Now it should be noted that the tick only happens once, once it has happened, the PSU has to then be switched off, and back on for the tick to occur again, which may or may not help.

Any help you guys could provide would be brilliant.

Yeah got an tx850 I was using since I RMA'd my XFX one. The AX850 I've put in is brand new too :(. But it seems the PSU is giving power to the mobo since the light came on, will go try it out and see though
 
Could be a short.
Pull the motherboard out, put it on a box and try and boot outside of the case. If it boots you've probably got a stray stand off or screw brushing the underside of the board, easily done when you're moving things around inside the case.
 
Right, it seems that my old PSU worked...which isn't a good sign. Is there anyway I can test my new one to see what the problem might be? Or is there any chance I've done anything majorly wrong with the installation? Thanks again.

EDIT: Also, I only plugged in the 24pin and EPS connectors when I tested my old one just to see if it would boot
