Disconnect from Xbox live

It started happening on Saturday, i got disconnected during a BF3 game.
Now each time I log into Xbox live, it will disconnect within 20mins, every time.

My sons Xbox doesnt have that problem, but his is wireless compared to my Ethernet plug thingy, but not had a problem before.

My ISP is Virgin Media and after a wee check on google seems there are issues, but these appear to be for national customers (phone line) and not cable.

Is anyone else having issues? Internet etc is always on, so it isnt a loss of signal overall...

I've tried the usual, unplugging modem\router etc but all the settings are on automatic (on the xbox) so nothing has changed. I reckon a call to Virgin Media will be in order, but thought i'd throw it out here first ;)

My connection was running slow last night.

Took a good few minutes to download a 7Mb game update which is totally not right considering I am on 50Mbps.
 
Virgin media here also and mine has been disconnecting occasionally too. It's not every 20 minutes, but it's done it a good 8 or 9 times over the last few days.
 
Tried all the fixes suggested by the Xbox live support pages but no joy.
Phoning VM is a joke with a wait time of 30mins...and then getting disconnected.

Weird thing is my sons Halo Reach console isnt having any of the issues I am having. He is connected over wireless where as my xbox is wired.
 
I've disconnected twice while playing skyrim, an offline game. I figured it was xbox live just playing up, never thought it could have been Virgin Media :o
 
I played MW3 for an hour or two earlier and last night without such problems. VM user here also though near Oxford so any problems could be more localised than national. You might have some luck checking on or posting on the VM support forum. Takes a few days for them to reply though.
