i am going to be spending about £1,017.32 inc VAT, buying parts from a new system is not possible to get a discount on this since i am a student at uni?

why would you deserve a discount for being a student?

surely if thats the case i should get a discount for being scottish then :)

Stop your moaning. Grab the guitar or keyboard. Get a hat and get playing on a busy street somewhere :D. I think that's where OCUK will tell you to get the discount too.

The answer is that "prices are pre-discounted for your convenience" regardless of your current occupation, age or affiliations so I'd have to say I think you will be out of luck in the request.

You could ask your student services in whatever institute of education your in if they will subsidise anything. grants can be awarded for some unusual things. also if your dyslexic you can have a PC or a MAC for free. which is nice.

I'm IT support at a college btw.

I doubt OCUK do student discount, but there are a few places that do. Even Apple give educational discount on their site. Your university might have some subsidised scheme running too... in fact most universities have spare OS licenses to give to students if you ask in the right place (not always easy). At edinburgh (my uni), they've got some laptop deal with the big D, but that doesn't interest me much.

Surely it's their loss if they don't give you at least a small discount, else you might spend the grand somewhere else?

its a shame OCuK dont do deals on software like some places do, but its not realy supprising that they dont considering its harder for an internet store to confirm some1 is infact a student then a real store where you can just show your student card.

Being a student has some realy nice perks when it comes to buying software, like i can buy microsoft office 2007 enterprise edition (which usualy retails for around >£400 if i remember right) for some silly low price like £80 or something like that.
