Discrete GPU vs Intel P34w

Hi all,
I am not sure if I am using the 970m in my laptop, windows 8.1 playing WOW and I get a frame rate of around 35-45. If I go into the Nvidia control panel, 3d settings and change it to Nvidia GPU instead of the Intel it makes no difference to frame rate at all...even if I drop to the Intel backwards.

I am connected to the HDMI port on an external monitor, I wonder if the Intel card is the only one driving this port?

The intel chip will be the interface to the HDMI port however the 970m will be ding all the grunt work, the minimum l would expect to see if 60hz due to the limitations of the intel chip.

This was the case with my old P170EM, the intel chip only outputted 60hz to my 120hz monitor.

So I haven't tried it yet, but would you expect superior performance then via the VGA, which is on the other side to the HDMI port or the onboard screen ?
Will do a few tests.

I also updated the driver last night and gained 1000 points on 3dmark11
